Nobel Biocare Japan Co., Ltd. Established in 1985 as the Japanese Corporation of “Nobel Biocare AG”, a leading company based in Switzerland in the field of restoration and aesthetic dentistry. It has performed the import and sale of artificial root implant systems and dentistry prosthesis. In July 2007 the company established a foothold (through a production center) for the product in the Japanese and Asian Oceania markets in Narashino-City, Chiba.

Q. What is your companies primary business?

The name of our company, Nobel Biocare, comes from the company established by Mr. Alfred Nobel in Sweden which is famous for the Nobel Prize.

Our company pioneered the modern implant system, developed a titanium implant product which is connected to the bone. This was discovered in 1965 for the first time by Professor Branemark from Sweden and it is the number one company in the world.

At the production center in Chiba, we produce a titanium and ceramic product as the upper portion structure of the implant. We cater to the Japanese market but we also export products to various other countries, mostly in the Asian Oceania market.

Q. What were the circumstances in which your company advanced into Chiba?

The first was that people from the Chiba Prefectural office and from the Chiba Investment Support Center gave us kind and enthusiastic support, including the introduction to the proposed site and even adjustment with each place. Gratefully, both we and our company were able to get security.

Second, close location from Narita International Airport. Having our production center in such close proximity to Narita International Airport helps to expedite both imports and exports because we utilize airplanes as one of our primary modes of shipping.

Third, is to be as close to Tokyo as possible, since it is a large market that consumes much of our product. We believed that we could send our product to many of you much more quickly in being located in the metropolitan area that held approximately 1/3 of the Japanese population.

Q. After advancing into Chiba, do you think the move had merit?

Since it was in close proximity to one of our larger markets, it became possible to develop business quickly by advancing into the high traffic location of Chiba. Infrastructure such as an airport and highways made it possible to cope with demands from dentists and dentistry artisans because we were able to ship product anywhere in Japan within 24 hours. In addition, we possess the training institute and offer a training program for both dentists and dental technicians. Therefore there are many participants.

We were concerned about hiring employees prior to operations at the production center. However, many excellent and very talented people came from the local area, as well as from outside the prefecture (even from foreign countries). So with great teamwork and camaraderie we were able to work it out.

After advancing into Chiba, we believe 200% that it was a great success! In particular, we are grateful for the Chiba Prefectural Office and for the Chiba Investment Support Center for giving us their earnest support.
